Bass Lessons Unlimited has been offering online bass instruction since 2009.

Our Zoom bass instructors are professional bassists looking to share their craft with eager and dedicated students through one-on-one, Zoom lessons.  As a school, we have been fortunate to offer Zoom bass instruction for over fourteen years. We are grateful to have had such a headstart in developing strategies to optimize the online format and ensure its effectiveness for all students.

We love bass and are excited to help students achieve their musical goals through Zoom bass lessons. Each of our bass instructors has unique expertise that they bring to their teaching. In order to help every student we work with experience actual growth as a musician, we utilize a step-wise method of learning that is organized around each student’s needs and desires.

Riley Hagan created Bass Lessons Unlimited in 2002 and was one of the early pioneers of on-line bass education in 2009. He has taken the most effective elements he has learned from his professors at Berklee College of Music, as well as studying with the brilliant Michael Manring, and refined his teaching method with more than a thousand students over the last 20 years.

“Riley has been the only teacher so far that has made a big difference in my playing.” - Bernardo A.

Jed Lingat is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and has spent years making a living as a bass player in NYC. His teaching stems from his experience as a gigging musician as well as almost 20 years of playing. A few artists Jed has performed/recorded with are Childish Japes, J. Hoard, Sami Stevens, and Matthew Hartnett & The Gumbo All-Stars.

“I’ve worked with Jed for over a decade and he continues to teach me new ways to improve the quality of my playing in a way that’s fun and exciting.” - Terrill M.

Ben Wallace-Ailsworth, an alumni of the Berklee College of Music, has over 15 years of professional music experience and over 8 years of teaching experience. He has performed and studied with various, well-known artists including Jay Lane (Primus, Ratdog) and Sheila E. (Prince).

Pat Abbott has a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Music Education from Nazareth College of Rochester. “My bass lessons online are with Jed, who has been a fantastic teacher!! Jed is really kind and patient, and has helped me improve my playing a TON over the last several months. Previously, I was teaching myself bass with apps and Youtube videos I found online, but hit a lot of roadblocks in my progress - Jed has really helped me get past them! Jed is really good at teaching both the technique and the music theory involved in playing bass. We focus a lot on learning songs by ear, and understanding what chords/scales they are built off of, which has been a very fun challenge for me! We do our bass lessons over video calls, and I've been impressed with just how engaging and useful they have been.”
- Rohan S.

“Having played drums for four decades, I finally took the plunge to learn bass and, without having had any expectations for my progress, wow I am impressed! My Zoom bass teacher, Ben, who luckily happens to be a drummer and bassist, is simply phenomenal at his job. Speaking from experience as a decades-long teacher myself, I can say Ben is inspiring in every way. He is encouraging, has a lesson plan to progress in skill and musicality, offers useful technical feedback, and most importantly delights in music. Zoom lessons with Ben are consistently inspiring and helpful. I look forward to them every week and they prompt me to practice much more intensively than I’d imagined I might.”
