Specializing in online bass lessons through Zoom and Skype, Riley Hagan is a Berklee College of Music Alumni and has been teaching bass for over 20 years. He has taken the most effective elements learned from his professors at Berklee College of Music, as well as studying with the brilliant Michael Manring, and refined his teaching method with more than 1000 students. Riley is one of the first instructors to actively optimize a bass guitar curriculum for the online format. He began playing bass at the age of thirteen, and at the recommendation of his instructor, began teaching bass at the age of fourteen. Riley earned a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music and began to study with noted bass instructor Jim Stinnett (Lionel Loueke of Herbie Hancock, Mike Gordon of Fish, & Charles Berthoud of Youtube). Under Jim’s tutelage, he began a rigorous study plan consisting of six to eight hours of daily practice over a span of five years. During this time, Riley not only developed his own playing but also internalized the fundamentals of effective music education. Riley was introduced to Michael Manring in 2010 and has been fortunate to study with him over the last decade. This alliance has deepened Riley’s understanding of bass guitar and the possibilities of where the instrument can be taken. He has been a featured artist at the Berklee College Of Music Five-Week Program. Riley's performances include the Berklee Bass Lines Concert and the New Hampshire Bass Fest. He has also been a guest teacher at the EM&T Music Institute in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
