Jed Lingat

Having spent some years making a living as a bass player in NYC, Jed Lingat deeply loves how the instrument can bring life to a song or situation. His teaching stems from his experience as a gigging musician as well as almost 20 years of playing. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Jed is well acquainted with a wide array of musical genres on the electric bass. He is particularly drawn to Soul, R&B, and Gospel music.

A few artists Jed has performed/recorded with are:

  • Childish Japes

  • J. Hoard

  • Sami Stevens

  • Matthew Hartnett & The Gumbo All-Stars

“My bass lessons online are with Jed, who has been a fantastic teacher!! Jed is really kind and patient, and has helped me improve my playing a TON over the last several months. Previously, I was teaching myself bass with apps and Youtube videos I found online, but hit a lot of roadblocks in my progress - Jed has really helped me get past them! Jed is really good at teaching both the technique and the music theory involved in playing bass. We focus a lot on learning songs by ear, and understanding what chords/scales they are built off of, which has been a very fun challenge for me! We do our bass lessons over video calls, and I've been impressed with just how engaging and useful they have been.”

“I’ve worked with Jed for over a decade and he continues to teach me new ways to improve the quality of my playing in a way that’s fun and exciting. He is a patient, kind, funny, and extremely engaged teacher who is well versed in a multitude of genres and styles of playing. Anyone would be lucky to have him as a teacher.” - Terrill Mast

“Jed is soft spoken, seemingly shy, yet with bass in hand, he speaks volumes possessing fluency on the bass that will dazzle and spark a nerve in your soul. He understands the language of music, which combined with his unique approach to bass playing, sends pure love and joy into the air that inspires fellow musicians and listeners alike.”
